Opening sequence research
The film starts by showing us the 'Warner Bros. Pictures' sign, this straight away tells us it is a big budget hollywood film as Warner Bros. is a very big respected distributor, this ties the audience in straight away as it is a well known logo and the audience can relate it to other films distributed by the same company. During this there is a big bang noise, almost like thunder, this noise is sudden which draws in the audience to watch the screen. We then see the sign for 'Legendary Pictures' this is also a big american production company. During this we hear eerie music, this keeps the audience attracted to the screen and gives a sense of enigma as they don't understand what is going on yet. We then see the sign for 'DC Comics' this is a famous american comic book company, comic book fans will recognize this as they made Superman, Wonderwomen, Green Lantern and of course batman.
The scene starts off with a crane shot zooming into the window, the music builds up until the window is smashed. There is a man standing with a clown mask in his hand and the camera zooms into it the mask very slowly and it stays in shot for quite a while, the music also becomes very eerie and there is not much else in the shot and no cuts at all to make sure not to take away the attention of the audience this ensures that the audeince focus on the mask, this one shot shows us that the mask or what the mask signifys/ represents is a main part of this film and is an important aspect. When the car comes the music begins to become more fast paced and the audience almost gets snapped back into reality and it begins to suggest that this is an action film. The characters then begin to talk about the so called "joker" that they work for, this gives enigma to the film and makes the audience begin to question what is happening. This also suggests to the audience that they are not the main characters and they work for the "Joker" who will then be a big part of the film.
